It is written in purport of Bhagavad Gita (14.16) that one should not kill any living entity. But, microorganisms (bacteria, virus) are always killed by us and plants are also living entities. While one accepts that one should not kill animals for eating, but what about plants and bacteria and vermins? Does that incur sin? Yes, killing any living entity knowingly, or even unknowingly, incurs sinful reactions. In B hagavad Gita (BG) Lord Krishna instructs to Arjuna, BG 2.70 : A person who is not disturbed by the incessant flow of desires -- that enter like rivers into the ocean, which is ever being filled but is always still -- can alone achieve peace , and not the man who strives to satisfy such desires.
